Behcet¢¥s Syndrome

Abstract
A thirty five year-old Korean woman affecting Behcet¢¥s syndrome is manifesting chronic, recurrent and multiply-involved ulcers over the genitalia, lateral margin of tongue in oral cavity and left oral angle areas of the lips, and erythema nodosum typed skin lesion on external aspects of the extremities including fingers as well. The size of ulcerated skin lesions are pea to bean, and the shapes are round, oval or kidney formed and the depth of the ulcers are deep or shallow.
The examination of the eye revealed no distinct pathologic change, however sign of myopia is appeared. The patient has been affected also recurrent pyoderma during the last ten years of the course of the disease. With these clinical signs and symptoms, the patients is diagnosed as Behcet¢¥s syndrome. For supporting of the syndrome, the patient was performed various laboratory examinations, among which was shown increased ESR, positive skin puncture test with physiological saline solution, and histopathological studies was shown to be distinct vasculitis with heavily infiltrated small lymphocytes on perivascular areas in the dermis.
Author made the discussions of differential diagnosis, presumable etiological factors, histopathological findings, clinical symptoms, treatment, prognosis and some characteristics of laboratory findings of the syndrome, in addition reviewed literatures extensively.
